KYO SA NYM CRAIG

Throw Kuk Sool Fife DunfermlineKyo Sa Nym (KSN) Craig is the principle instructor for Kuk Sool Won of Dunfermline.  His obsession with martial arts came when he was 8 years old when he started studying Karate.  Although  the club closed after a few years, he dabbled in a few other arts through his teens.  At 20 years old and living in Edinburgh, he decided to start training seriously and checked out a variety of different martial arts before stumbling upon Kuk Sool Won.  At a crossroads in his life, he dragged Tammy along to the first class with him and both were immediately blown away.  Ever since Kuk Sool has been a part of their daily life.

KSN Craig & Tammy initially trained in Edinburgh but shortly after receiving their black belts in 2005, helped their good friend and current instructor, PSBN John Edmiston with his new Livingston school.  They feel honoured to have seen the school and students grow over the past few years and are proud to have been a part of this.

KSN Craig is a highly motivated and disciplined instructor. He leads by example and his goal is to help every single one of his students to improve their life through the practice of Kuk Sool.  KSN Craig has competed for the past 8 years at an international level winning many medals.  However he is keen to emphasise that Kuk Sool is not a sport but a complete martial arts system.  Although he enjoys all aspects of martial arts training he has a particular interest in self defence application, pressure points and body conditioning.  KSN Craig is also a fully qualified Tui Na practitioner, a branch of oriental medicine that uses massage & manipulation techniques to relieve pain, stress and many more conditions.  He is currently studying towards a qualification in Acupuncture.

KSN Craig feels fortunate to have been able to share this experience every step of the way with his wife, KSN Tammy.  This is why he believes the whole family should get involved in Kuk  Sool and it can be practiced by anybody regardless of age.  How about this for a family martial art:   KSN Craig is married to KSN Tammy.  Her sister JKN Abigail is the girlfriend of PSBN John.  PSBN John’s sister, KSN Julie is married to KSN Graham.  All of whom are instructors at the Livingston school. And more recently KSN Craig’s sister has started training too :)

KYO SA NYM TAMMY

KSN Tammy started Kuk Sool Won at the age of 22. Her Husband, Craig, had managed to talk her into attending just one class “for him” but after this one class, she was hooked. At that time in her life she was 2 stone overweight, no confidence, desperate to quit smoking and had no real focus in her life.  Kuk Sool changed everything!  Instantly she started seeing improvements in all areas of her life.

Kuk Sool opened her eyes and she was shown that Traditional Martial Arts training was more than just fighting.  She was surprised to learn that training included things like weapons and forms, which have become her favourite parts of Kuk Sool.

KSN Tammy enjoys how training in Kuk Sool means that you are constantly achieving goals, improving your self confidence.  She took one belt at a time, never thinking she would make it through to Black Belt.  Not only did she get her black belt,  she has also won numerous medals in the last 8 years of International competition.  Her highlight was recently being awarded the ladies UK & Scottish grand champion.  This is an amazing accomplishment and just goes to show what dedicated training can achieve.

Full of energy and very approachable, KSN Tammy is an excellent motivator and really gets the best out of her students.  Admittedly a bit of a perfectionist, you can be sure what you are learning is of the highest standard.

KSN Tammy is now a 2nd Degree Black Belt and is looking forward to working with KSN Craig and the challenge of making Kuk Sool Won Dunfermline and its students a success.
